610 Magnolia, Louisville, KY

Global techniques plus local products create one of the finest restaurants in the country

In an unassuming carriage house in the heart of Old Louisville, visitors and residents of the city will discover (among the Frette linens and Riedel crystal) one of the top dining experiences in the country—at 610 Magnolia.

610 Magnolia’s fame is already well known. In 2010, chef/owner Edward Lee competed on Iron Chef America and won. Then, in 2011, the James Beard Foundation nominated Lee for Best Chef in the Southeast.

The food at 610 Magnolia is New American cuisine. Blending European techniques with local organic products from Kentucky farms, Chef Lee creates elegant menu selections that change with the season and reflect a commitment to Kentucky growers.

For appetizers, look forward to pasilla-dusted diver scallops or Alaskan king crab with sushi rice, seaweed strips and a lemon chili soy glaze. Then, try a salad of Kentucky Bibb lettuce with green apples, pecans and bacon.

The main course might offer selections of lamb with cous cous, roasted duck breast and pheasant, or pan-seared striped bass with Carolina rice, mussels and clams shitake.

Finish with a dessert of coconut milk and long pepper panna cotta—or opt for the strawberries and cream ice cream bar.

  • Insider Note: The above items and those listed on 610 Magnolia’s sample menu are only examples. The actual menu changes frequently with the seasons but is always designed to give guests the freedom to customize their meal.

610 Magnolia offers 3 or 4-course prix-fixe menus. The 3-course meal is $50 per person, and the 4-course meal is $60 per person. Guests can order from the restaurant’s extensive wine list or choose to add 610 Magnolia’s custom wine pairings to the meal for an extra $50 per person.

610 Magnolia is only open to the public on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. Reservations are required, seatings begin at 6 p.m., and there is only one seating per night (so the table is yours for the evening).

610 Magnolia is located in the historic Old Louisville neighborhood at—you guessed it—610 Magnolia, between South 6th and South 7th Streets. Valet parking is available on Friday and Saturday nights.

  • Insider Tip: If you aren’t paying attention, you might miss the building. Look for the glowing “610” sign on the outside of the dark blue and white carriage house.
